The best automatic vacuum robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgCheck your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, best robot hoover and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", Best Robot Hoover that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
